Heart of Gold

I’m Dr. Kristin. One day I was sitting in my office on a coffee break and spinning on my chair, when the nurse came in and said, “Doctor, a women has to see you at once.’
“Okay. Let her come in," I answered.  Just then a woman came in.
The woman said, “Doctor, my heart feels weird and my veins and arteries look goldish. What’s wrong with me?’’
“I don’t know, but I’ll find out in the x-ray room,” I replied.
After the x-ray, she asked me what was wrong with her.
“It’s nothing bad or good,” I said.
“What do you mean, doctor?”
“You just have a case of a heart of gold,” I explained.
She looked puzzled. “ What’s a heart of gold?”
“I have information about it in my desk. I’ll get it," I said.
When I got it, I cleared my throat and read,
“A heart of gold means.....One....your acting better than usual.  And two....., when your veins carry one karat gold blood to the heart twenty- four times, causing it to turn gold.” I was really out of breath!
“Doctor, how do you know you have a heart of gold?" she asked.
" Mmm, did you touch any gold lately?”
“ Yes. My husband digs up gold and I touched a little piece.”
“ Ma’am, did you have a cut on the finger you used to touch the gold?”
She thought for a moment then said, “ Yes doctor, but what does that have to do with my “ heart of gold” condition ?"
I noticed I still had that piece of paper in my hand. I read to her:
“ They either get it when they decide to be nice.... "
“Doctor, I’m sorry to interrupt, but I’m always nice.”
“ Good, now shut-up and listen. Just kidding! I went on, “ Or, they get when they touch gold when they have a cut and the blood turns gold.”
“How do you know we have it?" she asked.
“You either look a little goldish, or your expression is “ I’m Rich ” I said.
“One more question and I’ll be going home, Doctor”.
“Okay,"I said.
The woman asked, “ Is there a treatment?” I said, “ No, but just beware of robbers.”
“How?" the woman asked.
“Here,” I said giving her a necklace,  “This will help you sense robbers.”
“Thank you, Doctor.”
We said good-bye and I went back to spinning on my chair.
