I am Dr. Leslie from the cardiology
department. I was getting coffee when all of a sudden a strange elderly
man came running up to me.
“Doc! Doc! You’ve gotta help meee!!” he said all covered
in tears.
I asked,“What’s wrong, mister? What is your name?”
The man said, "My name is Dan Johnson."
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“At times my heart feels just fine.” And the problem
is …at other times my heart starts to harden."
I choked on my coffee and said “Oh my, I wonder what
you have.”
We went down to take some x-rays of
his heart. I called Dr. David in to help me.
“What is wrong Dr. Leslie?” he asked, “
I need help with this man” I said “I need to take x-rays
of his heart.”
Fifteen minutes later I found out that he had a “Heart
of Stone.” I explained that a heart of stone is when your left and
right ventricle start to harden to rock.
He yelled and said “ Heart of stone?!?” “ A heart of
stone!?!”
I told him to calm down and that everything will be all
right. He asked me how he had gotten the condition. I asked him what he
ate earlier that day. He said he had eaten a chili dog with …. garlic.
“Ah ha!” I exclaimed.
“Ah ha, what?” asked Dan Johnson.
“You ate garlic,” I explained.
"Garlic has a very bad smell, right?” I asked.
“Right doctor,” he responded.
I then explained, "The smell causes your heart to rotten
and when your heart gets rotten it starts to harden."
He asked me how someone would know they have a heart
of stone.
I told him that when you have it, you start
to feel a lot of stress. You get all emotional, feel like crying, and start
to get grouchy.
"When you get grouchy it’s better for you to stay inside
so you don’t hurt anyone." I explained.
“O.K.,Doc and thank you very much..”
“ Your welcome, Mr. Johnson," I said.
"And have a nice day. I suggest you take a breath mint
please.”
“O.k. and thanks again Dr. Leslie. Bye”
“Bye-bye,” I replied.
