A Change of Heart
I am Dr. Luke
from the cardiology department. Yesterday, a peculiar thing happened. A
patient came in and told me that he kept feeling different. He told me
this started last week, when he was feeling tired and then he was restless
just like he just woke up that morning. Then I noticed he had a severe
case of a change of heart.
A change of
heart is when the ventricles and the atriums get moved around causing the
blood to flow backwards, making the brain to change your mind on something.
Symptoms are sometimes planning to go shopping but the taking a bath instead.
When I was in
my fourth year of my residence I learned that a change of heart can
be treated two ways. The first treatment is to have a person follow the
patient around to make sure that the patient does not change his/her mind.
This helps the patient to gradually get better. The second treatment is
to have a cardio transplant to stop the backward blood flow.
For this patient
we chose surgery to fix it. After the surgery, he was back to normal. He
thanked our team of experienced doctors for helping him, then he left.
